Shayne Hanks

Sport and Exercise Psychologist (Perth & nationally/internationally via Skype/email)

Shayne is the founder and director of Performance Boost and works out of the Perth office in Western Australia. Shayne also works regionally, nationally, and internationally with athletes and performers via video conferencing (Skype etc). He has provided an extensive range of sport, exercise, and performance psychology services over the last 20 years.

Shayne has worked with professional athletes from the AFL, state and national cricket teams, the National Rubgy League, the National Basketball League, the National Soccer League, National Rugby Union and many others. He also has a special interest in golf and has worked with professionals across the PGA, the Asian Tour, the European Challenge Tour and European Tour.

He has also worked with elite amateur athletes from the WA Institute of Sport, the Australian Institute of Sport, the Victorian Institute of Sport and many other regional academies of sport. Shayne has worked with elite athletes from triathlon, swimming, rowing, tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, basketball, netball, and just about every sport imaginable. He has also assisted dancers, performing artists, and musicians to cope more effectively with the pressures of performing.

Shayne has also assisted dancers, performing artists, and musicians to cope more effectively with the pressures of performing in front of audiences, when performing for auditions, and for performance in important exams.

Shayne also has extensive experience in the corporate world providing management consulting and executive coaching. He has also worked with the Royal Australian Navy Reserve as a psychologist and executive coach and is currently a Performance Psychologist with the RAAF where he works with trainee Fast Jet Pilots and Instructors.

  • Psychology Board of Australia – Specialist Endorsement: Sport and Exercise Psychologist
  • Former Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS)
  • Former Member and Former Chair of the APS College of Sport and Exercise Psychology (CoSEP)
